Former Trump Lawyer Offers Free Advice To Ex-President In Mar-A-Lago Case

Donald Trump‘s ex-lawyer, who had quit the case of the classified documents for personal reasons, on Wednesday gave free advice to the former president.

What Happened: Tim Parlatore, in more polite words during his appearance on CNN, asked Trump to remain silent and stop discussing the secretive documents found at his Mar-A-Lago residence, reported The Huff Post.

“You have the right to remain silent. Use it,” Parlatore said.

Parlatore was shown a video of the ex-president’s interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier during the interview. In the video, Trump reportedly acknowledged intentionally retaining classified documents at Mar-a-Lago despite being subpoenaed to surrender them. Trump justified his actions by citing a lack of time and mentioning that some papers were unintentionally mixed in with his golf shirts.

When CNN host Abby Phillip questioned whether Trump was admitting to obstruction, Parlatore responded, “It’s difficult to know. This is one of the reasons why we always advise our clients, ‘Don’t talk about the case. You have the right to remain silent. Use it. Let your attorneys talk about it.'”

Former Trump lawyer said the ex-president – who was charged with 37 counts for his handling of the documents – didn’t heed his advice when he was working for him.

Meanwhile, the trial date for prosecuting the former president’s classified documents case is Aug. 14.
